Not Done

What do you think about this project and photo essay?
This project and photo essay is very interesting to me. It brings all kind of different people and strangers together. Even if they didn't know the person they are touching, the people in the pictures still show some kind of manner by agreeing to posing for the picture. Also it's unique because I couldn't even tell that they were all strangers to each other. From their pose, they all look like good times friends.

What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?
If a photographer were to approach me with that kind of request, I would gladly say no because I don't like getting pictures taken of myself. But it all depend on how

Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.

Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?

Sports/Action

Name of photographer – Carlos Delgado
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- picture story
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – Not a good background, mergers, out of focus, many objects/subjects were growing or cutting into the main subject for the photos
List two things the judges like – good motion,  not a lot of good comments were made.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
This picture story lacks a little explanation of what we’re looking at. A lot of the photos are mergers and not good of a lighting in the pictures. I like the black and white photos, it added a little complexion to the pictures.

Name of photographer – Alyssa Schukar
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- picture stories
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – not enough personal feelings, same lens, same feel,  not enough strong singles, dark sorta take
List two things the judges like- Beautiful background, staircase picture with the kids shows an interesting picture
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
In this portfolio, There were some pictures that caught my eyes. The one I like is probably the one that one of the judges mention, it was a picture of a carribean man sweeping. There was rules of third involve along with the background. I didn’t like some of the pictures because it kind of got repeated and some I couldn’t feel the depth in the picture.

Name of photographer – Nick Adams
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- photoj
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – A little problem with the focus, too out. Mergers with the kids, there’s not much of a reason behind the pictures. Picture of rodeo is a little too boring, cut off subject too much. Toning is a little bit bad; if only the contrast was fix.
List two things the judges like- Insanely framing,  silloetes,
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
Some of the pictures are really good but had mergers in it. Too many pictures that doesn’t give any explanation in the photos.

Name of photographer – Melissa Golden
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- Picture stories
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – Out of focus, out of motion,  not a lot of photos catches the judges eyes.
List two things the judges like- Nice portrait, adding the black and white color
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
There was just many random photos that didn’t give me any understanding to the portfolio. The portrait that was taken in this photo are very nice. I’m liking the black and white because it  adds a little depth into the photo.

WINNING PORTFOLIO
Name of photographer – Dustin Snipes
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- Sports stories
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio – a little bit too much on photoshop, a little too much on the set up. Not a lot of problem, one of the judges favorites.
List two things the judges like- Nice color and composition, every subject is doing something
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
This portfolio is very creative, many of the pictures is taken very well. A lot of the photos have good lighting along with the rules. My favorite is the one with cross-country, the photographer made it seem like he was running with the subjects when he took the photo.

What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
Nice color, composition, type.  A lot of feel, makes the reader feel that the photographer is in the photo, every subject is doing something.  When judging portfolio, you should be rewarding different type of pictures. No clunkers and good editing.
What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
A lot of rules of photography was involve, standing viewpoint and angle that the pictures were taken.  The lighting was perfect.
Too many repeated theme, bad focus and motion, no feelings and too dark of a picture. Many “blanks”

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.
In my opinion, I agree with the judges about the goose photo.  It happen at a random moment where it wasn’t planned so it’s a special type of picture. The picture also have a little bit of rules of third. So it was sorta cool, plus you never see any kind of picture with a goose running into a person.
2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong.
I didn’t particularly like the guy that got a thumb in the eye. It was a little plain to me. I mean it’s a snapshot picture but there was a merger of the player behind the guy who got his eye thumb. Also the race car picture was nice because of the background along with its lightning of the picture.

Japanese Earthquakes

The photographer in this photo wasn'ted to use a clear white background so we can see the up front of the picture. They also uses the rules of third to put a subject on the mark to make the picture stands out more. I can see the mess that the earthquake cause which makes me feel bad and sad for the country of japan.

In this photo, the photographer changes their view to make a subject and part of their main subject into the photo. The technique that's mostly shown in the photo is viewpoint. along with my emotion for this photo. As the audience, i can see the devestated face on the subject and the mess that the earthquake made. It made me feel sympathy towards the victims of the earthquake.

This photo is one of my favorites as I was looking through the pictures for this classwork. The photographer uses Viewpoint and Rules of third to represent the subject. If I was looking at this picture without captions. I would infer that the subject is looking for the names of his families that's a victim of the earthquakes. This creates a sad and sorry feeling for the subject, which is the japanese person in the picture.
